THEATRE IN THE MILL, BRADFORD

PLS Special Projects produced the 2007 autumn season for Theatre in The Mill, Bradford.  During this period the theatre was closed due to development work.  The challenge was to deliver the pieces into spaces not intended for theatre, and as such PLS Special Projects was brought in to provide technical support and stage management for the performances by Chotto Ookii, Unlimited Theatre, and The River People.  We liaised with the companies on behalf of the client regarding technical requirements and delivered three successful and trouble free productions.

M.A.D.Art - MIND EXHIBITION

PLS Special Projects facilitated the installation of video and visual art with lighting as part of the M.A.D.art installation in Dray Walk Gallery, London as part of the 60th anniversary of MIND.  This was a week long installations through which the audience was invited to find their own path and resonance with the art.

122 - STIR FESTIVAL

In July 2007 we delivered a twelve hour arts festival on behalf of Fabric and Bradford Metropolitan District Council.  This was a mixed media ‘takeover’ of the fabulous St. Georges Hall as part of the Council’s Stir festival.  We were involved in the project from the initial pitch to providing event feedback in the weeks afterwards, and managed PLS crew, house crew and subcontractors on lighting, soundscaping, installations, hard construction, backstage management, catering, artist booking and liason.  We built performance spaces, cinemas, and even a ‘gallery in the dark’ – comprising a 24’ x 12’ darkroom hosting original and challenging visual art – in areas of the venue not typically used for performance. This was blended by a continuous performance by filmmakers, V.J.s, D.J.s, musicians and performance artists.  The live music in the main auditorium during the evening was integrated with live work by V.J.s and our own lighting designers and technicians.  The resulting event has set a high mark for immersive, mixed media art events in the region.

THIS IS YORKSHIRE- YORKSHIRE MUSIC CD SAMPLER

We were charged with developing and delivering an audio showcase of some of the best contemporary musical talent from across the Yorkshire region under the title ‘This is Yorkshire’.  Drawing on our contacts within the local music scene we met with musicians, promoters, and music journalists to carve off a vibrant slice of Yorkshires musical pie.  The resulting CD was used as promotional material for the 122 event as well as being distributed at the shows of five Yorkshire based theatre companies during the Edinburgh Festival.  On behalf of our client we managed artist liason, licensing, CD-replication, and brought our own creative and aesthetic flavour to the project.
